Ned enters his seventh season as head coach of
the Hawks following several seasons as an assistant at Southeastern. Appointed
Head Coach in 2002, Ned inherited a team struggling through many seasons of
mediocrity, hoping to bring the program to a level of respectability. After
suffering through back to back losing seasons, hard work would pay off as the
Southeastern Regional Hawks brought home the school's first ever state title in
any sport in the 2004 Division 4 EMass Super Bowl. A year later the Hawks
defended their title by beating the O'Bryant Tigers. Despite losing the
majority of the from the two Super Bowl teams, the Hawks ended up a respectable
5-6 an actually out scored both Super Bowl squads. Last season the Hawks
returned to the post-season, finishing as Runner-Up in the Large School
Vocational Super Bowl. His hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed as
Ned has been named Coach of the Year in the Mayflower League twice, New England
Patriots High School Coach of the Week and the Division 4 Coach of the Year by
the Boston Globe in 2005. During Ned's tenure the Southeastern football
program has seen some firsts. The Hawks 2005 victory over Nantucket was the
first one in school history as well as the Hawks victory last season over
Bristol-Plymouth. The Southeastern Hawks have gone from the team that everyone
wanted to play to one that many now refuse to schedule.
From his many years as an assistant with the Apponequet Pop Warner
to his many seasons patrolling the sidelines at Southeastern as both as
assistant and defensive coordinator, Ned has developed the knowledge to be
successful while developing a genuine love of the game. It is this knowledge
and love of the game that he works to instill into each and every player.
Outside of football, Ned is also the school's head varsity
baseball coach. In his spare time Ned is an avid follower of football and
baseball and somehow finds time to golf and play softball. Another interesting
fact is that his son Keith is a budding Hollywood actor, appearing on such shows
as CSI: New York and Days of Our Lives as well as the upcoming
horror film Goy.
Bill Clifford

Running Backs, Defensive Backs
Bill, or as the players affectionately refer to as "Coach Cliff"
, enters the seventh year of his second stint with the Hawks. He previously
coached the Hawks from 1988-1992. Before coaching at Southeastern, Clifford was
a member of the Bridgewater State College coaching staff from 1968-1975. His
stint at Bridgewater State College was preceded by four seasons as a player for
the Bears and two seasons at Brockton High School.
Three seasons ago, with Clifford making the calls, the
Southeastern defense would prove to be the toughest in the conference. The
Hawks defense was tops in scoring defense and allowed only two backs to reach
the century mark in rushing. The dominance of the Hawks defense was never more
evident than in the Hawks first trip to the Division 4 EMass Super Bowl. Boston
South champions, the Hyde Park Blue Stars, would struggle all night as they
gained a mere 39 yards on 33 plays and had two passes picked off along the way.
The Hawks defense would continue it's dominance the next season in the Super
Bowl as it held the O'Bryant Tigers two eight offensive plays in the entire
first half. The Southeastern defense dominated from start to finish as the
Hawks intercepted four passes, the last being returned 30 yards for a touchdown
to seal the game. Last season, defense would again help pave the way back to
the post-season as the Hawks gave up just 10.5 points per game.
Bill is currently retired after teaching in the Brockton School System from
1968-2005.
Jeff Cziska

Tight Ends
Jeff is back following a brief hiatus and now enters his fifth
season as a member of the Hawks coaching staff. Jeff comes to Southeastern after
spending five seasons at Old Colony Regional Voc-Tech. He also coached at
Greater New Bedford Regional Voc-Tech for two seasons. During his time at
Southeastern he has coached the offensive line, defensive line, served as the
team's Junior Varsity coach and was the Hawks Offensive Coordinator in 2006.
As a player at Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech Jeff was a three year letter winner
in football. Following a five year break from playing he went on to play college
football at UMass Boston (which no longer fields a team). Unfortunately, his
career was cut short during his second season at UMass after sustaining a severe
neck injury.
Outside of football Jeff is a graphic and web designer as well
as a publisher of football playbooks. A proud member of the American Football
Coaches Association, he is an avid reader of any books pertaining to football
and enjoys speaking at, working at and attending football coaching clinics.
In his spare time he plays the guitar and enjoys spending time with his wife
Jessica and their cat Meowcito.
Mike Merrick

Quarterbacks, Linebackers, Special Teams
Mike enters his third season as a member of the Hawks coaching staff after
serving as Head Coach at Holbrook High School over the last three seasons.
Before being named Head Coach he was a member of the Holbrook staff as an
assistant for seven seasons and coached the Randolph/Holbrook Blue Devils for
another twenty years. During his time with the Blue Devils, he helped lead them
to three Pop Warner Championships. As a high school coach he has helped develop
sound football players with many going on to have excellent careers at both the
college and semi-pro ranks. Mike began his playing career in the Randolph Pop
Warner program, moved on to play at Milton Academy and ended his playing career
after playing four seasons at Blue Hills Regional.
Outside of football, Merrick works for the Norfolk County Sheriff's Department
and also finds time to coach baseball. In his leisure time he enjoys lifting
weights and fishing.
Dan Lewis

Receivers, Defensive Backs
Dan enters his fifth season as a member of the Hawks coaching
staff. During his first two seasons he served as the team's Principal Scout,
doing the most under appreciated task of scouting each week's upcoming opponent.
It was Dan who found an opponent's overlooked tendency that helped keep the Tri-
County Cougars from scoring on a crucial 2-point conversion. The Hawks won by a
slim 14-6 margin that day. The victory gave the Southeastern football program
their first ever Mayflower League Championship and several weeks later the
school's first State Championship in any sport.
Dan played varsity football, basketball and track & field for
Athol High from 1979-1982 enjoying a great deal of success. In 1979, he played
on Athol's Western Massachusetts Division III Super Bowl Championship team. In
his senior year ended his athletic career on a high note as Athol won the
Inter-County League Track & Field Championship. More impressively, weeks later
his squad earned the Western Massachusetts Division III Championship. Dan began
his coaching career four years later as he served as an Assistant Track & Field
coach at Greenfield High from 1986-1987. From 1988-1989 he was the Head
Basketball coach at St. Mary/St. Joseph's Academy in Willimantic, Connecticut.
He also was an assistant football coach across town at Windham High from 1988-
1992, including running the Freshmen program in 1989. From 1989-1992 he also
served as the Head Freshmen Basketball coach while also serving as a varsity
assistant. In 1992 Dan moved on to coaching college basketball, serving as an
assistant coach and scout for New England Regional Finalists the Mount Wachusett
Community College. From 1996-1999 he coached the Brockton Basketball Club AAU
Boys 13-15 and Under team.
Outside of football, Dan is a Regional Family Support Manager for
the Massachusetts Department of Social Services. In his spare time he enjoys
hiking, advanced scouting, listening to music and playing Jazz trombone.
Ben Katz

Offensive Linemen, Defensive Linemen
Ben joins the Hawks coaching staff this season following two
seasons at Scituate High School. During his time at Scituate he served as both
the Varsity Offensive Line Coach and Head Freshmen Coach. His Freshmen squad
achieved something few teams in any sport ever accomplish, going undefeated in
2007.
As a player Ben excelled on the gridiron at both Hull High School
and Bridgewater State College. During his four seasons as a player for the Hull
Pirates he played both center and outside linebacker. A starter on the 1996
Hull Super Bowl squad, Ben helped lead his team to a thrilling 20-15 victory
over Al Costabile's undefeated Bishop Fenwick squad. Trailing late in the 4th
quarter, the Pirates scored with less than three minutes to play bringing home
the victory. His playing career did not end their as he went on to Bridgewater
State College where he played inside linebacker. In 1999 he was named to the
New England Football Conference Defensive Team of the Week three times. Ben
followed that up with an even more important accomplishment as he was named to
the New England Football Conference All-Academic team in 2000 and 2001.
After graduating Cum Laude from Bridgewater State College in
2003 with a double major in History and Political Science, Ben earned his
Master's Degree in International Relations from the University of Durham,
graduating with distinction honours.
Despite a hectic schedule both on and off the field, Ben finds
time for reading, weight lifting and spending time with his wife Clare and their
cat Munchkin.
Shawn Bamford

Assistant Coach
Shawn enters his second season as a member of the Hawks coaching
staff following a stellar playing career at Southeastern. A 2005 graduate of
Southeastern, Shawn was a member of the Hawks first Super Bowl championship squad.
Following an 0-2-1 start Bamford stepped into the role of starting quarterback
and helped Southeastern go 6-3 the rest of the way, including their improbable
13-0 victory over the Hyde Park Blue Stars. Along the way the Southeastern
offense averaged 22 points per game after scoring 19 total points prior to
Bamford stepping into his starting role.
Outside of football Shawn works in his trade as a craftsman. In
his spare time he enjoys fishing and playing his guitar.
Vincent Spathanas

Varsity Assistant Coach
Vinny joins the Hawks coaching staff this season following several
years away from coaching. His previous coaching stint was at Holbrook High
School with fellow Hawks coach Mike Merrick.
A 1983 graduate of Holbrook, Vinny played football, baseball and ran track. Like
today, the Holbrook football squad usually entered each game as the underdog.
Spathanas played the role of David in 1982 when he kicked the game winning
field goal against Duxbury High School with no time remaining. The loss dashed
Duxbury's chances of playing for a Super Bowl title that season.
Outside of football Vinny is a Corrections Officer for the Norfolk County Sheriffs
Office. Over the last 19 years he has held the positions of Field Training
Officer, Drill Instructor for the Recruit Academy and K9 Officer for 11 years.
His hobbies and interests include training and working with service dogs as well
as practicing the art of Karate. Despite his hectic schedule he enjoys spending
time with his wife Donna and their two dogs and cat (retired K9 Denny a German
Shepherd, Bella a Great Dane and Gus).
Matt Siwik

Head Freshmen Coach
Matt enters his third season as a member of the Hawks coaching
staff following a long hiatus from the game. During the early 1980's, under
Hall of Fame Coach Carlin Lynch, Siwik enjoyed a stellar career as a linebacker
for the Dartmouth Indians. The Indians appeared in three straight Super Bowls
from 1982-1984. After losing 22-7 to Franklin in 1982, the Indians won back to
back Super Bowls over Foxboro, 20-14 in 1983 and 14-0 in 1984.
Matt's career on the gridiron ended upon graduation, but his
athletic would prove to be far from over. Siwik brought his talents with him to
the Navy, becoming a stand out on the rugby field. He would continue his
rugby career later as a civilian in several leagues throughout the country.
Siwik's strong rugby background truly fits in with the Hawks offense which looks
more like a rugby scrum than a traditional offense.
Outside of football, Matt is a teacher in the school's Metal
Fabrication Department. Siwik is also the school's Head Freshmen Baseball Coach
as well as an assistant wrestling coach.
Pam Rutter
Certified Athletic Trainer
Pam enters her eight year as the Hawks athletic trainer which
literally gives her the distinction of being the person that holds the entire
team together. With contact sports comes the sprains, strains and bruises. Pam
does extensive work to maintain the safety of all student-athletes through the
use of preventative care, injury evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care,
treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning.
During Pam's playing days she was what would be considered an
athlete that comes along maybe once every decade. Following a stellar high
school career Pam enrolled at North Adams State College. Pam was a four-year
starter in both basketball and volleyball. Her true calling may have indeed been
volleyball where she was named Most Valuable Player in both her junior and senior
seasons while serving as Team Captain during both seasons. Prior to college Pam
was a member of the U.S. Volleyball Junior Olympic team from 1983-1985.
Following her graduation from North Adams State she worked as a
trainer at Division I Fairfield University from 1989-1993 and Division I Providence
College from 1993-1995. Pam followed that up by working with the USA Women's
Olympic Team during the 1994-1995 season.
Outside of her job as trainer, Pam has taught Biology here at
Southeastern for the last six years. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, quilting
and spending time with family.
A little known fact is that in 1999 Pam ran in and completed the
Boston Marathon
Allen Dorfman
Audio/Visual Technician
Allen enters his seventh season as a member of the Hawks coaching
staff. There from the beginning of Scaduto's tenure he has seen the football
program go from being on life support to State Champions in just three seasons.
The work he has done has proven to be a vital component to the team's success.
Film is perhaps the most important of coaching tools off of the field. It enables
a team to learn from mistakes and make the necessary changes from week to week.
Outside of his duties with the football program, Allen has been
employed for the last nine years at Southeastern Regional as the school's Supply
Room Manager. An avid Red Sox fan, Allen may know more about the Fenway Clan
than any other person on the planet. In his spare time he enjoys dominating in
fantasy baseball and loves to read.
